The chassis ("chaa-see") is the assembly that contains all of the structural and mechanical parts. The body is nothing but a decorative shell, an outer skin that serves no real function other than to affect aerodynamics. On toy RCs, the body is usually a hard plastic piece with color molded in and decals applied to the outside. On most hobby-level RCs, the body is made out of extremely thin, completely clear polycarbonate ("Lexan") that gets painted on the inside so that dings & scratches don't scrape off the color.
