The Top 5 Best Quadcopter With Camera

Here are my top 5 picks where the best quadcopters with cameras are concerned. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Altair AA108

As I said earlier, the Altair AA108 is my favorite drone with camera. It’ll run you only $130, so you’re getting the ultimate experience plus the camera at a bargain price.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Has a premium 720p HD camera that supports real-time video feeds in FPV and a 120-degree, wide-angle lens for photos and videos
  2. Features Altitude Hold, Headless Mode, 1-Button Takeoff, 1-Button Landing, Custom Route Modes, Out of Range Alarm, Low Battery Alarm, Emergency Landing, and more
  3. Uses 3 different flight skill levels – Beginner, Mid Level, and Advanced
  4. Has a flight range of up to 100 meters or 300 feet
  5. Total flight time of up to 10 minutes that is doubled with the second included LiPo battery for free
  6. Uses advanced remote control technology with a physical controller, no smartphone required for flight control
  7. Able to use with VR goggles, thanks to Virtual Reality Mode that is perfect for the more adventurous flier
  8. Has a maximum video transmission range of up between 40 to 50 meters, or 120 to 150 feet, when using FPV
  9. Has LED lights on the bottom that help with flight direction if you’re out of Headless Mode
  10. Able to fly indoors and can withstand a crash without breaking or spiraling out

The biggest pro that the AA108 by Altair has to offer is it’s a great drone to have if you’re a beginner looking to build your experience with a single drone.

The biggest con, however, is that you’ll need to supply a 4GB MicroSD card on your own, but those are incredibly easy to find.

Syma X5C

The X5C by Syma comes in at a measly $32! Fortunately for you, this one comes with a camera so you not only have the option for an insanely cheap quadcopter that won’t drain your bank, but one that comes with a decent camera.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Uses a camera with 2MP for photos and HD recording for videos
  2. Able to be flown both indoors and outside with a decent amount of resistance to the wind
  3. Uses a 6-axis gyro stabilization system
  4. Has a total flight time of up to 7 minutes
  5. Takes a 3.7V 500mAh LiPo battery
  6. Has a couple of LED lights for low visibility flying or flying at night
  7. Uses a 2.4GHz transmission frequency
  8. Has a transmission range of up to 150 feet

The biggest pro that the X5C by Syma has to offer is the camera. It’s pretty decent if you’re shooting footage or taking photos in the right setting with the right lighting, which is pretty surprising.

The biggest con, however, is that getting it to go in the right direction with the right elevation can be tricky. With this in mind, I recommend you try it out indoors a couple of times to get the hang of it.

Parrot AR 2.0 Elite

The AR 2.0 Elite by Parrot is currently on sale right now for only $187! Unfortunately, there are only a couple of them left on sale before they go back to the regular price of between $250 to $300, so make your purchase quickly!

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Uses a 720p HD camera with live video streaming and recording capabilities that go directly to your smartphone or tablet while in flight
  2. Able to share all of your footage using the AR Free Flight piloting app with WiFi on your smartphone or tablet
  3. Takes a 1000mAh LiPo battery and uses a battery charger paired with international adapters
  4. Has a total flight time of up to 12 minutes
  5. Features 4-axis flips on command, Director Mode, Absolute Control Piloting Mode, the Flip, and more
  6. Uses innovating pressure sensors for perfect stability at virtually any altitude
  7. Has a transmission range of up to 30 meters with a clear line of sight
  8. Has a USB plug directly in the drone for easy recording and storing using a USB

The biggest pro that the AR 2.0 Elite by Parrot has to offer is the fact that it’s incredibly durable. It’s made of a Styrofoam-type material that makes the body quite a durable one.

The biggest con, however, is that the transmission range you get is absolute garbage. 30 meters worth of range isn’t a lot, so make sure you know this before you buy it. I suggest sticking to somewhere you won’t lose your LOS if you’re buying it.

DJI Mavic PRO

Who doesn’t love the Mavic Pro by DJI? For this review, we’re going to be focusing on the Fly More Combo Platinum Version. The entire package is going to cost you $1,400, but I promise you, it’s worth every penny.

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Folds down into the size of a water bottle for easy transport
  2. Uses a camera with true 4K resolution for both videos and still photos in RAW
  3. Uses the new OcuSync transmission system that gives you a range of up to 4.3 miles of 7 km
  4. Able to hit speeds of up to 40 mph when in Sport Mode
  5. Has a total flight time of up to 27 minutes
  6. Features ActiveTrack, TapFly, Vision Positioning, Sport Mode, and Obstacle Avoidance
  7. Uses both GPS and GLONASS

The biggest pro that the Mavic PRO by DJI has to offer, aside from the Fly More Combo, is the fact that it’s able to fold up into the size of a water bottle. This makes for a safer, easier way to transport the quadcopter.

The biggest con, however, is no doubt the price. The Fly More Combo is definitely worth the price, but it’s definitely too pricey for some.

DJI Phantom 3 Standard

The Phantom 3 Standard by DJI is an absolute classic quadcopter that everybody knows and loves. It’ll set you back around $485, but don’t let that price fool you, it’s certainly not a drone that’s only for the professionals. It has a lot of aspects that beginners like yourself can make use of, too!

Here are the features and the specs:

  1. Uses a camera with 2.7K video footage and 12MP still photos and 720P HD real-time video transmission through your mobile device
  2. Able to live stream your real-time transmission from up to half a mile away using the DJI GO app
  3. Uses a 3-axis stabilization system for the camera to ensure there’s no shaking in your videos or blurring in the images you take
  4. Features Follow Me, Point of Interest, Waypoints, Automatic Takeoff, Automatic Land, Beginner Mode, and Return to Home
  5. Has a total flight time of up to 25 minutes

The biggest pro that the Phantom 3 Standard by DJI has to offer is the camera. 2.7K video footage and 12MP still photos are definitely hard to beat! Paired with Beginner Mode, some general know-how, and you’re good to go!

The biggest con, however, is that you shouldn’t rely on the built-in guidance system. Even though it’s basically advertised that it will help you do almost everything, that’s not really the case. In short, be prepared for something to fail, because once it does, you’re going to have to manually control whatever is going on, as with any other drone, so don’t let the whole guidance system be the deciding factor in your purchase decision.
